Doug’s Ride Across Canada for LMS

Raising funds awareness of leiomyosarcoma (LMS) - a rare form of soft-tissue sarcoma - and funds for sarcoma cancer research.
Doug’s diagnosis turned a private crisis into a public mission.
“A small bump changed the course of my life.”
• In November 2025, Doug noticed a small bump on his right ankle.
• Testing led to a below-knee amputation in December 2025.
• The cancer had already metastasized to both lungs: stage IV, grade 3 leiomyosarcoma.
• Doug’s chosen response to this terminal diagnosis is to raise funds and awareness, support other sarcoma patients, and inspire hope by riding his bicycle across Canada.
• Doug will start his cross-Canada bike ride on May 1 in Victoria, BC. Riding an average of 80km/day, he will reach Cape Spear, NL in October.
